Norma Instruments is proud to announce the launch of the iVet-5R veterinary hematology analyzer, the latest innovation in our veterinary hematology portfolio. Designed for in-clinic complete blood count (CBC) testing, the iVet-5R brings lab-level precision directly to veterinary practices.
Building on the trusted iVet-5 platform, the iVet-5R integrates reticulocyte measurement into every CBC, allowing veterinarians to gain deeper insights into anemia, bone marrow activity, and regenerative health, all at the point of care.

Fully Optical Measurement for Accurate CBC Results
The iVet-5R features a fully optical measurement system. Its redesigned integrated optical head measures white blood cells, red blood cells, platelets, and reticulocytes within a single high-precision unit. This design improves measurement stability, data density, and reliability while maintaining a compact, lab-friendly footprint.
“This is more than an update. We completely rethought the measurement unit, integrating the entire optical process into one high-precision head.”

Reticulocyte Measurement for In-Clinic Hematology
Using absorption-based technology with specialized staining, the iVet-5R accurately differentiates immature and mature red blood cells and detects minimal RNA content. In addition to cell counts, it measures cell-by-cell volume and hemoglobin for red blood cells and reticulocytes, delivering detailed hematological analysis previously available only in reference laboratories.
“This level of detail was previously available mainly in large reference labs. With the iVet-5R, veterinarians can access it immediately, directly in the clinic.”

Fast, Efficient, and Vet-Friendly
The iVet-5R is designed for fast and efficient workflow. Using a 4-component reagent system, it delivers results in approximately 2 minutes from a 38 µl whole blood sample. A Linux-based interface and intuitive processing unit ensure smooth operation, clear visualization, and an enhanced user experience based on veterinarian feedback.
